This kitchen was in desperate need of renovation after my clients were living in the house for over 40 years and the cabinets were from the ‘40s. The kitchen was dated and bitter cold with frequently freezing pipes hindering the homeowners from traveling during winter months.
During demolition we quickly discovered why the house was so cold – the foundation sill was rotten and there was no insulation in the exterior walls. As we moved the old refrigerator, the flooring began to collapse. The result… we pulled up all the old floor joists and re-poured a concrete slab as well as a foundation wall. From there, we built a new flooring system.
With a new structure, we were free to create the new kitchen from flooring, cabinetry, countertops, tile, lighting and hardware. This was the first kitchen that we did with Kountry Kraft and it turned out beautiful with white perimeter cabinets and green island cabinets with a wood top – complete with sink! Clarke is a great resource in Boston, MA where my clients enjoyed shopping for amazing high-end appliances. The countertop is Daltile, “Taj Mahl”. I like to have the finishes of hardware and lighting match. The hardware is from Richelieu and the lighting was purchased from Harbor Lights in North Hampton, NH. Lastly, the backsplash tile was from Coastal Floor Fashions, a great local resource in Rye, NH.
It was such a joy working with these clients to create a dream kitchen for them, blending the historic home with modern living and amenities. I know that they will enjoy their new space for many years to come!
