Making Your Garden Work for You in the Summer Months

Do you want to spend as much time as possible outside in the summer months when the weather is beautiful and the plants are thriving? My suggestion to make your garden work for you is to create a private and beautiful space. I have a typical small lot in downtown Portsmouth, NH. This year we had pavers added to the end of the gravel driveway to expand our outdoor living/ entertaining space during the summer months.

The question: How do I make this private and beautiful?

The solution: Pots with tall grasses and trellis’ with climbing plants strategically placed on the driveway.

Rolling Green nursery had the right size trellis’ for screening. The tall pots have been planted with Miscantis Sineses Grasses for a few years and are stored in the shed during the winter. By August these grasses will be roughly 8′ tall in the pots.

In the winter, we will move the pots (with the help of a handy dolly) and park our cars closer to the door on the new pavers.

At the end of the driveway, Hales Landscaping installed a granite heart into the cobbles. Thank you Hales for your creativity and talent. Those walking down the sidewalk smile when they see it.
