420 RENO… Bedding Softens the Space

Why select bedding before the project is even done? Well, because I simply can’t wait for the first night that I can crawl in my new bed in my new room.

When I worked in Chicago, we always did “Full Installations”, this is when we pull all the parts together in a project from architectural to interiors and complete the project as one. With this training, it’s hard for me to not think well in advance as the project is progressing. Bedding is a part of the design.

Here are the facts:

  • My bedroom is only 12 x 12. Nothing can be done about that, I live in a bunglow that is right on the property line so it cannot be expanded.
  • I have wood reclaimed white-washed ceiling with a dark wood modern ceiling fan.
  • I have horizontal wood walls that have shades of brown, grey, white, blues, greens.
  • The floor is maple hardwood and the other walls are painted Benjamin Moore, Simply White.

So since that is a lot of hard surfaces of wood and stripes of movement, I think that the bedding needs to be more biomorphic and dimensional. Instead of greys I decided to lean toward the white, off-white and beiges. These fabrics are incredibly textural and interesting.

In January, I picked up a bedding line called Avasa Home. This is a new line that launched in January by a designer that worked for West Elm and Restoration but… BETTER! Way better! The cotton linens have an amazing hand and the tufting with texture is unique.

Come by the shop and check out our new line. We will be launching our new Master Bedroom in the middle of May! What do you think of the bedding that I selected?
